Royal Family of Valholl

First of all... All those little details where such a pain in the butt! And there's only like four different colors in there... ಠ___ಠ But I hope think I shaded it well enough that they don't meld together... This is the first time I've used pattern overlays! It was pretty fun and I really like how the effect came out. :D

This is the Yokoshira family, royal family of the country Valhöll. The royalty in this country are very conservative and traditional when it comes to the blood line, as in only those with "pure blood" can inherit the throne (so they have kind of an incesty family tree). The first born son is always named the successor to the throne once the previous king's reign is over, though of course loopholes & changes occur now and then like in the family's current case in which the Queen is ruling.

A dominant trait in the family is their violet eyes and black hair.

This picture would take place about 6 months before the start of the story..


Now, on with the characters! From left to right we have:

Ryou :: 22-years old; Crown Prince. He is mild mannered and an overtly kind and wise young man who is well-prepared to take the throne but not as power-hungry and ambitious as other members of his family. He dislikes the image of the monarchy and despises the deception & lies that politics frequently tell. Ryou would have become King at age 7 if his mother hadn't interfered.

Veata :: Queen Regnant. Veata was wed to her second cousin when she became queen (consort), and was politically active alongside her husband. Shortly after their second son was born, the King died. Rather than the seven-year-old heir assuming the throne, Veata insisted that a child could not rule the kingdom and that she would rule until he came of age. Wasting no time, she instated a decree that allowed (royal-blooded) women to rule.

Kenji :: 15-years-old; Prince. "Spare to the throne," Kenji is the second child of the monarchy thus not a serious contender to the throne--though he would really like to be king. The young prince grew up spoiled rotten and continues to be a rather huge brat; refusing to do anything he doesn't want to and is granted everything he desires: except his wish to become king.

The three country's names in my story are derived from mythology: Valhöll, Midgard, and Tartarus. "Valhöll" is taken from Norse mythology's Valhalla, the hall of those who've died in combat. Also, outside of the door of Valhalla is Glasir, a golden tree--which is the Yokoshira's family emblem.
