These two have had some extremely hard lives.....   by their mid-late teens ('bout 17) they were the most notorious bandits in the country and had caused much havoc and spread fear throughout the desert.  The military had to intervene and their evil empire was brought down upon them. This is a scene from that, when they're being captured by the Tartarus army and become prisoners to Sougei....

Kita is the most ruthless character I have, having very little regard for the lives of others.  Being shown nothing but cruelty their whole lives, it's the only thing they have to return to the world (though Minami isn't quite as vengeful or sadistic... more damaged and unstable... into his own harmful vices <__<) As twins they have a high attachment to each other so there's a bit of co-dependency there. Especially coming from Minami's side... he would not be able to function without his brother. But it does go both ways. Their relationship with Sougei is also quite problematic... but they see no escape from it.  They're "working together", but he has complete power over them.  It was their own greed for money, power, and sado/masochistic pleasures that lead to their enslavement.
